Fleetwood Churches Together raise £1,363.23 over Lent for Save the Children

A brilliant effort from Fleetwood Churches Together raises £1,363 from their Lenten Lunches for Save the Children’s work in Syria and East Africa donated through Save the Children’s Thornton Cleveleys branch

Finally an extract from  St Peter’s and St David’s magazine which explains it all.

We have now completed all 6 Lent Lunches and have raised the magnificent sum of £1363.23.

This year, the decision was made to donate the funds raised to Save the Children.

Little did we know at that time how dire the need would be – God works in mysterious ways, and we were approached to see if the money could be directed to the Save the Children arm of the Disasters Emergency Committee to help aid the desperate situation in Syria and East Africa. This avoided unnecessary bureaucracy and delay as the money was “fast-tracked” to the point of need

Thank you to all who supported this work in ANY way – special thank you to Scotch Bakery who year after year have happily and generously donated all the bread rolls for this project.

The fellowship and friendship between our differing churches can only have been enhanced by this act of Christian Charity.

Again, thank you to all who participated.
